Who was the sculptor behind these you ask? Not a man, not an ape, not even a dolphin…bees. 60,000 of them to be exact.
Bees: nature’s little inadvertent artists
They built their beautiful honeycomb structure around a wire-frame constructed by artist Tomáš Libertíny
He simply shaped a metal skeleton and let the little builders do the rest
Libertíny’s project titled, Thousand Years, is an ode to the power and collaborative intelligence of nature, in this particular case, these brilliant bees
His inspiration to do the project came from the film “The Millenial Bee” and Gabriel García Márquez’s novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude”
And as you’ll see even moreso, Libertíny isn’t unfamiliar with working with these creative little creatures

Their beautiful art is displayed in a number of exhibits
And Libertíny certainly doesn’t take credit for the remarkable work
